The August Tarot Challenge: 31 Days to Embody Your Next Chapter
Your future isn’t built in one extraordinary moment. It’s built in the small rituals you return to every day.
August has always felt like standing on a threshold. The days are still warm, the gardens are full, and yet something subtle begins to shift. The light changes. The evenings arrive a little earlier. We instinctively start preparing for a new season, even before autumn officially arrives. Nature has a way of teaching us what comes next long before we have the words for it. This year, the astrology echoes that same rhythm.
We begin the month by celebrating Lammas, the first harvest festival on the Wheel of the Year—a reminder to pause and recognize what has already grown. Soon after, we enter eclipse season, one of the most transformative periods in astrology. Eclipses often close chapters, reveal new possibilities, and invite us into profound change.
Together, these energies tell one story. Not about becoming someone new, but about finally embodying the person you’ve been growing into all along. If July prepared the soil, August is where we begin to notice what’s growing. Not because everything is suddenly perfect. But because we’re finally able to recognize how much we’ve already changed.
To help us embody that, I’ve created the August Tarot Challenge.
Receiving Isn’t Passive
When people hear the word receiving, they often imagine something arriving from outside themselves. A new opportunity, a relationship, a promotion, a breakthrough. But in my experience, receiving begins much earlier than that.
Receiving is recognizing the version of yourself that has quietly been emerging all along. It’s noticing your resilience after difficult seasons. Celebrating your growth before someone else validates it. Trusting your intuition before you have every answer. It’s becoming the kind of person who can hold the life you’ve been working toward.
Because sometimes the greatest manifestation isn’t getting what you wanted. It’s becoming someone who no longer doubts they deserve it. That is the invitation August extends to us. Not simply to hope for change—but to begin living as though we believe it is already possible.
Why Tarot?
Whenever someone asks me what tarot is for, my answer usually surprises them. Tarot isn’t about predicting the future. It’s about building a relationship with yourself. Each time we sit down with the cards, we create something our busy lives rarely offer us anymore: a pause.
Five intentional minutes where we step away from everyone else’s opinions, expectations, and distractions to ask ourselves one simple question: What do I need today?
The cards don’t tell us what will happen, they illuminate what we’re ready to see. Sometimes they reveal patterns we’ve been avoiding, sometimes they remind us of strengths we’ve forgotten, sometimes they ask better questions than the ones we’ve been asking ourselves.
During eclipse season, when life can feel fast-moving and unpredictable, that kind of daily grounding becomes incredibly powerful. Instead of reacting to change, we learn to move with it. Instead of fearing uncertainty, we become more rooted in ourselves.
The Power of Small Rituals
We’re often taught that transformation happens in dramatic moments. A life-changing conversation, a major breakthrough, a single decision that changes everything. While those moments certainly exist, most lasting transformation happens much more quietly.
It’s built through the habits we return to again and again. A few intentional minutes every morning, a moment of reflection before reacting, a journal entry that helps us hear our own voice, a single tarot card that reminds us of something we already knew deep down.
These seemingly small practices shape the way we think, respond, and move through the world. If you’ve ever had a tarot reading with me and we’ve pulled the Minor Arcana, you’ve probably heard me say something I truly believe:
There are no minor cards.
The Minor Arcana represents the ritual of our everyday lives—the conversations, routines, choices, and seemingly ordinary moments that ultimately shape who we become. Life isn’t transformed by one extraordinary event. It’s transformed by hundreds of ordinary moments lived with intention.
The same is true for us.
A Journey Through August
That’s the heart of this year’s August Tarot Challenge. Rather than approaching tarot as something mysterious or intimidating, we’ll spend thirty-one days creating a simple daily ritual together. The month unfolds in three chapters.
Ground
The first ten days are about returning to yourself. You’ll create a steady foundation, reconnect with your intuition, and honestly explore where you are today—not where you think you should be. Every journey begins exactly where we are.
Receive
The second chapter aligns beautifully with the energy of Lammas and the First Harvest. We’ll practice recognizing what we’ve already cultivated. Instead of focusing only on what’s still missing, we’ll celebrate what has grown, release resistance to receiving, and expand our capacity to hold the blessings we’ve been working toward. Because gratitude isn’t just something we think, it’s something we embody.
Become
As eclipse season unfolds, the final chapter invites us to consciously step into our next chapter. We’ll explore the person we’re becoming, the beliefs we’re ready to release, and the choices that align with our future rather than our past. Transformation isn’t about abandoning yourself, it’s about becoming more fully who you’ve always been.
The Threshold
On the final day, we’ll pause before rushing into September. We’ll reflect on what we’ve learned, what we’re carrying forward, and what we’re ready to leave behind. Because every meaningful ending is also the beginning of something new.
My Hope for You
By the end of August, I don’t hope you’ve memorized every tarot card. I hope you’ve memorized something much more important. The sound of your own intuition.
I hope you trust yourself a little more. I hope you’ve discovered that five intentional minutes can change the tone of an entire day. I hope your tarot deck feels less like a book of answers and more like a trusted companion. I hope you’ve created a ritual that feels like coming home to yourself.
Most of all, I hope you recognize that grounding isn’t something we find, it’s something we practice. One card, one journal prompt, one affirmation, one quiet moment at a time.
Join the August Tarot Challenge
Beginning August 1, I’ll be sharing a daily tarot prompt designed to help you slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself throughout one of the most transformative months of the year.
Each day includes a tarot reflection, a journal prompt, an affirmation, and a simple grounding practice. Whether you’re brand new to tarot or have been reading the cards for years, this challenge is designed to deepen your relationship with your deck—and with yourself.
All you’ll need is a tarot deck, a journal, and a willingness to show up for yourself. Because your future isn’t created in one extraordinary moment. It’s created in the quiet rituals you choose to return to every single day.
I’d love for you to join us as we spend August grounding into the life you’ve been creating—one card, one breath, and one intentional moment at a time.
